Run by manufacturers for manufacturers

Project SIBLING aims to contribute to improving pride in place and increasing life chances in the West Yorkshire region by enabling local manufacturing and “medtech” businesses (SMEs) to advance their respective markets through R&D and innovation.

SIBLING (Scientific Instrumentation for Business Leadership in Innovation and Growth) is an exciting £1.9 million programme which is co-funded by the UK Government  through the UK Shared Prosperity Fund (UKSPF) allocated via the West Yorkshire Combined Authority (WYCA).

The project will see investment in advanced scientific instrumentation, housed at the University’s City Campus, that will be made accessible to SMEs in the West Yorkshire region. Eligible SMEs will be provided with free-of-charge research and innovation projects on these new instruments performed by experts based at the University.

Project participants will receive fifteen hours’ worth of free support from the unversity team, based around analytical problems that could be solved with the help of the faculty’s impressive range of  scientific equipment. The Centre can offer a number of approaches to challenging problems by producing and interpreting data from different analytical techniques.
